9. Finding Meaning
So at this point you might wonder, what is Meaning? What is the point of the 'M' with the hands clasped in the middle?
Meaning is the piece of tech for good that I'm working on, and the reason I went to South by South West.
Meaning is an app and web platform that will allow YOU, a professional or retired professional, working or living in the Global North, to connect with YOU, a young adult aged between 18 and 30 looking for advice, support, engagement, and a chance to build your communication skills.
Meaning will sign you both up, let you build profiles, then provide you with online training in virtual mentoring, intercultural communication, and language skills. It will give you certificates for everything you've done, and then match you, based on professional and academic background, gender, and ambition. The conversation will take place through the platform, monitored for safety, and appropriateness, with onscreen subtitling, and prompts if they're helpful.
Thats the idea. If you're a professional in the Global North maybe you'll volunteer from home, or part of your organisation's CSR. You'll have a conversation a couple of times a month, and really make a difference to someone because of your skills, experience, and support. You'll learn, and you will connect, and you will make a connection of value, purpose, and meaning.
If you're a young person in another part of the world you'll get a supportive mentor, lots of advice, language and communication practice, and a certificate that you can share with potential employers.
