39. How to have a 'reverse trauma...'

Attending SXSW is about making decisions, all the time. If you were a fan of Tim Ferriss, Austin resident, legendary author of the 4-hour work week, and podcast titan you may have been tempted to go and see his session with Michael Pollanon Saturday afternoon. I was. The only thing that didn't draw me was his focus on hallucinogenics. It's interesting, but it wasn't a focus of mine at SXSW, and I knew that I would have a chance to hear his talk on his podcast, while doing my treadmill thing. Which is what I did.
The talk, even if you were tired and sweaty, was fascinating. It focused on the value of hallucinogens to enable people with mental illnesses to break out of the problems they're struggling with. Obviously I'm not an expert on any of this, and I'm making no recommendations of any kind, beyond listening to the podcast, which you can find through whichever podcast channel you prefer.

The highlights include the power of trips as 'reverse traumas' that enable people to entirely reset their brains, particularly for those struggling with things like terminal illness. Ferriss and Pollan describe how well martialled use of substances can transform the sense of self, and enable people to really step outside their ego. Judge for yourself...
