60. Left Doing Right

At SXSW you can easily get drawn into a whirl of going to talks and listening. An earlier post explains why this is a mistake. You also need to spend time meeting people and sharing experiences, and an ideal venue for that at SXSW2019 was the Global Innovation Zone, in The Line Hotel, hosted by the Rockefeller Foundation.

If you'd spent some quality time in the GIZ, talking to the people there, you might have been lucky enough to run into John Lyotier, from the Left Company. The Left Company is a fascinating organisation, which operates as a 'B' corporation. If you're not from North America you might not have heard of this concept - companies that are committed to generating value, not just to shareholders, but also to employees, customers, and the wider community.

The Left Company is built values and culture up. It inducts all employees into their 10, clear, core values right from the beginning, and employees, stay, joining a 'family.'

'We are Left, and we do things right.'

The company focuses on travel, using state of the art data analysis to provide customers with sustainable travel choices, then it uses the expertise and tools it has developed to do very exciting things for struggling and developing communities all around the world.

More about those projects later, in the meantime I urge you to check out the Left Company here.
