35. Building a Kinder Internet
If you had an interest in the new, kinder corporate model you might have attended a Saturday afternoon session at the Palmer Events Centre called 'The Business of Making People feel Good.' If you didn't you can find out more about it here and about one of the Texan speakers here.
Another one of the three was Alex Williamson, Chief brand Officer at Bumble, the social and dating app that demands women make the first move. Bumble was a significant presence at SXSW, taking over Jo's Coffee, an iconic downtown coffee spot. They offered free coffee all day, and breakfast burrito in a relentlessly bright and inspiring space.
Williamson is a great speaker, quick, engaging and insightful, and she made it clear how Bumble belongs in the 'Making People feel Good' space:
'Our core values are kindness, accountability, and growth.'
If you have a look at Bumble - for friends, dating, or as I did, for networking, you will find a host of interesting people. Everybody I've come across is respectful and friendly - though lots of people seem to be looking for work.' But whether it works or not, Bumble are already succeeding in their objective as described by Williamson:
'We wanted to build a kinder internet.'
