53. How a speaker got to SXSW

There were a crowd of Democrat politicians at SXSW, and if you weren't a specialist you might have decided to be choosy. In retrospect, deciding not to see Pete Buttigieg because you'd never heard of him might have been a mistake. However, seeing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would have given you an insight into a high-flier that stayed with you. You can find out about getting in the door here, one of her key points here, as well as one of her celebrity encounters here.

Since you saw her, you might have been interested in tracking her, and if you were, you might have watched the Netflix Documentary about her and three other 2018 Democrat women challengers called 'Knock Down the House.'

The documentary shows the process of the insurgent challengers, from outsiders, to committed, emotional, politicians.

The outcomes are  - of course - common knowledge, but it's still well worth watching. The documentary shows Ocasio-Cortez working in a bar, talking to voters, and her belief in what she's doing. It's a valuable insight into the development of a politician's conviction, from uncertainty to utter commitment, and the value of authenticity. Recommended.
