44. How you can make a podcast, now...

Podcasting was one of the hot topics of SXSW 2019, highlighted in the big 'Second Golden Age of Audio' session on the Tuesday afternoon. It featured speakers from online media giant, Spotify and the podcasting specialists they'd just acquired, Gimlet Media. If you weren't there you can find out more about it here and here.

The session also headlined Michael Mignano from Anchor. The over riding theme of the session is that podcasting is the 'next big thing' forecast to explode over the next two-three years, and the standout quote from Mignano was '40% of all new podcasts are on Anchor.'

So what is Anchor? Anchor is a full service website that gives you all the tools you need to create, edit and publish a podcast. All you need to do is record the audio, on a phone if you like, and provide visual branding. Turn it into a podcast, and Anchor will do everything else, publishing it to the podcast providers, and allow you to communicate with listeners, and if you have enough of them, assign advertisers and make money.
