49. I loved you the first time i saw you

SXSW throws together a myriad of synergies, of every kind. An interesting and surprising one was the appearance of actress of Elizabeth Moss in the big plenary hall, in discussion with the musician Brandi Carlile. You may be well aware of one, or the other, you might know them both well. Find out more about their conversation here.

Though they talked about Moss's work, particularly the Handmaid's tale, and her two most current works, Us and Her Smell, they dwelt most particularly on how they got to know each other, when Carlile asked Moss to direct the video for her song 'Party of One.'

Carlile says that she was eager to see how the shooting of the video went, but she wasn't allowed on set - much to her frustration.

The song is powerful and heartfelt, apparently with some autobiographical themes. It is sad, and strong, with swelling, moving combinations of strings and lyrics. Find the song here.
